My Bio

My Personal Bio

I have been showing dogs for over 30 years, starting at the age of 6 with my mother’s Doberman Pinscher in Junior Handling.
Since that time, I have shown the family dogs as well as clients’ dogs, and have achieved over 30 championships and pointed several other dogs in the Sporting group, Hound group, Working group, Toy group, Non-Sporting group, and the Herding group.  Originally focused in Obedience, I have achieved 12 CD titles on various family dogs and 8 client dogs, 2 CDX titles, and 1 Utility title.  In fact, my Doberman Pinscher was the only Doberman in Canada to achieve a Utility title that year (1988).

Most of the dogs I have handled over the years have been from the Working group, and include almost every breed represented in that group.  Although currently owning a coated breed, my formative years in handling and showing came from learning on Dobermans, Rottweilers, and Boxers – breeds that demanded a knowledge of form and function in order to show effectively to accentuate proper profile and movement.  This training has allowed me to recognize these same qualities in coated breeds as well.

I continue to be active in all aspects of the purebred dog, including grading litters for my clients, behavioral & obedience training, and breed rescue, and I continue to handle group placing dogs, most recently in the Sporting group, Hound group, and Working group.

I have handled my client’s Alaskan Malamute to #1 Mal in Canada in 2000, and in 2006 I campaigned my client’s Bernese Mountain Dog to #2 BMD in Canada, achieving a BISS win at the Canadian National Specialty in June, 2006 as well as multiple group placements.

Then, of course, there was Tundra in 2005.  Tundra’s campaign year was VERY memorable, all culminating to his final Best In Show at the largest indoor dog show in Canada at Lower Mainland last October.  His show record for 2005 includes:

                • 5 – Best in Shows
                • 1 – Reserve Best in Show
                • 23 Group 1sts
                • 10 Group 2nds
                • 14 Group 3rds
                • 17 Group 4ths

Our achievements resulted in attaining # 1 Samoyed for 2005, and # 6 Working Dog, ALL owner-handled.

Personally, I achieved my CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation in November, 2004, and do contract work for various companies in western Canada as a Hospitality Accountant.

In addition to the dogs, we also have twin boys that were born in July, 2009, just to keep us busy!

We are located south of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, enjoying mountain views and plenty of sledding available on the farm!
